Mary of the Sea
“Pedrosa is a name that comes from the beach
Mary was born from the sea
Adélia is a boat sailing
On the wave that spreads on the beach
And of blue it faints
In the sands of the fishing Pedrógão
Before so close, now so far
But, oh Mary, far enough
For you still love it
Still think of it
And also sings it
With soul, memory and passion
And what do you sing Mary?
The experiences and memories
Of the houses made of poverty
That you deprived, inside yourself, without surprise?
The men and women blackish by the maritime air
Fighting to survive day-by-day?
The infinite beauty of the exceptional and unique sand places?
The whispered wind that entered by the streets of the place?
So Mary of the Sea, you sing everything: the hope
And also the hopelessnesses.
You know, you are like the bird from the dunes
That sings the home melody,
The nest, property and place”

Translation of the Poems
I would like to ask everybody, specially the authors, to forgive me for the translations of the poems. I use to say that a translation of a poem is always a betrayal, but there is no other way to show the poems to other people that do not understand Portuguese. I hope you comprehend. I´ve tried to make the translations more closer to the real meaning that is possible. Thanks.

Desgarrada
See the special video of the Degarrada with Adélia and the beloved and longing friend and great fadista Sebastião Robalinho, "O Fadista e a Peixeirinha" (The Fadista and the Fish Saleswoman), by Joaquin Pimentel. It is our tribute to Sebastião Robalinho and the recognition for his work for Portuguese music and his value as fadista and friend.
